Pastor Nick along with his wife Patty and daughter Diana join the celebration
of his "100% yes" confirmation of the congregation's desire
to have him as our next pastor.
Who is Pastor Nick Valadez?
I was born and raised in Garland Texas, a suburb of Dallas, and lived in the
Dallas/Fort Worth area for 24 years. I have two wonderful parents, Refugio and Paula, an older brother, Paul, and a younger sister, Megan (who is getting married in Oct 2014). I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Communications in 2004. I then followed God's call to San Francisco Theological Seminary where I earned my Masters of Divinity Degree in 2007.
Following God's call in my life I was led to central Washington to a rural church in Wapato. While serving the members there I was asked by the Presbytery in 2011 to serve in a yoked ministry with a neighboring Presbyterian church for nearly two years. During my time there it was eventually decided to merge both congregations together so we could serve our community better. I have had the blessing to serve this congregation for six years.
During my time in Washington I met my amazing wife, Patty, and were married in October 2010. In January 2012 we welcomed the biggest blessing of our lives, Diana, and to our shock she is almost two years old. She is looking forward to playing with her new friends very soon.
While serving in Central Washington I have been part of many different Presbytery committees. I have served on the Budget and Corporate Affairs, Committee on Preparation for Ministry, Board of Campbell Farm, and Administrative Commissions. While at SFTS I was asked to go as a Theological Advisory Delegate to the General Assembly in Birmingham, Alabama. I have served God by going on mission trips to Mexico and Nicaragua, and was an Elder in my home church in Texas. I have also been a youth director at my home church in Garland TX as well as Mill Valley, CA.
As you get to know me I will always emphasize God's amazing love for all of His children in the world. One thing you will hear me say and it will weave its way through the walls of Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church that "God is Good!" Also I center my life on the goodness of God, but also on the Greatest Commandment Jesus taught us in Matthew 22: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" (verses 38 and 39).
God has truly blessed my family in many ways and we hope and pray to be a blessing to yours. As God opens a new chapter in our lives as well as the life of LTCPC, may we all grow and seek the goodness of God.
Pastor Nick Valadez
At the end of January, 2014, we said good-bye and thank you to Pastor Rolfe Granath and his wonderful wife Beverly for their faithful service to our church.
